Chloe Wright receives her award from Barbara Janke, Leader of Bristol City Council.
Administration assistant Chloe Wright has become the first person in Bristol to secure a job through a Government employment scheme for young people, called the Future Jobs Fund.
We were delighted to appoint previously long-term unemployed Chloe, from the Kingswood area of Bristol, to help in our newly expanded Bristol office.
Chloe, who has a hearing impairment which she felt was a barrier to getting a job, said: "I was out of work for a year and my self-confidence was really low. I applied for lots of jobs but many employers didn't even reply to me. I was beginning to give up hope."
Her Jobcentre Advisor supported her to apply for this position with Groundwork and Chloe is now delighted with the outcome. "Getting this job meant the world to me. I feel so upbeat and confident about my future now. My new employers have been really welcoming and I'm looking forward to doing my best for them in my new role as an administration trainee.
To mark her success, Chloe and Groundwork were presented with an award by Barbara Janke, Leader of Bristol City Council.
Groundwork South West is helping to create new jobs for young people aged 18 to 24, under the Future Jobs Fund, in Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth and the West of England. Eligible young people will have been claiming Jobseeker's Allowance for around a year.
